On the XIII century, Siete Aguas field was the
limit of Valencian Kingdom and that circumstance gave to the
town a big importance. The fact that it was the limit with the
Castilla territory induced Kingdom lords to took care about
it, specially Jaime I who confered
the land to the men he trusted. Also he allow the muslims to
keep living there until a muslim captain rebellion caused that
they were thrown out and cristian families established. In august
the 18th of 1260 Sir Jaime I, son of the conqueror, wrote the
"Carta Puebla de Siete Aguas" to Miguel de Pedro de
Portaguerra and another 30 trusted men.
Later, on 1304, the village was sold to Alfonso
IV the Benign, and finally it was inherit by the infant Pedro,
Count of Urgel. After this the town switched to the Aragon Kingdom
since 1413 to 1425, when it was given to Miquel Mercader.
On the XVI century a Hospital was built, on
1650 a big inn hosted the travellers. On 1761, when Carlos III
was the king, Siete Aguas and other towns were added to Valencian
Kingdom.
Finally Siete Aguas emancipation from the Requena
County arrived. Also highlight that town habitants took part
on the independence war (1808) and Carlists wars.
Siete Aguas border town role finished when Requena was added
to Valencia province in 1851, in a letter wrote by Isabel II.
